Cartography + China Studies research @ Bangkit Rd?
Compare the following maps. See any difference in the size/shape?
As you can see, huge chunks of land is missing from the earlier picture as compared to the bottom one. The top one is the Map of P.R. China (aka China) and the bottom one is the map of R.O. China (aka Taiwan). See the difference? Up north, Mongolia wasn't supposed to be independent, but then the ROC government signed a treaty with USSR, acknowledging Mongolia's independence in exchange for the Soviets retracting its support for the China Communists. Well, the Soviets still continued to support the Communists. So ROC got ousted to Taiwan. And then they damn angry, went to UN to complain. So UN blocked Mongolia's entry into UN for a decade. Down south, Communists gave up huge tracts of land to Myanmar in exchange for their support in removing the ROC remnant soldiers hiding in the tropical forests.
While THE Communist China is celebrating its 60th anniversary, the ROC is "celebrating" its 60th year after their retreat onto Taiwan, and getting stuck there.
Similarly, both side wanna attack each other. Ok, at least 30 years ago they did:
China: We will liberate Taiwan
Taiwan: We will recover the Mainland

Anyway it is fun to study in the coffee shops. Irony it sounds, but it's damn conducive.
